Anna Eleanor Roosevelt
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884. She was an American political leader who used her status as First Lady to promote her husband's (Franklin D. Roosevelt's) New Deal, as well as civil rights. After her husbands death, she became and active speaker, author and spokesperson for human rights and the New Deal Coalition. She was a suffragist who fought alongside thousands of women to gain equal rights for both genders. She was a major supporter of the United Nations and was responsible for the committee that drafted and approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
