Jimi Hendrix

<

Jimi Hendrix was born in 1942 in Seattle Washington and had childhood problems, he was arrested twice in his younger years for riding in a stolen car and was given an ultimatium, either go to prison for two years or join the army and so Hendrix enlisted in may 31st 1961. Hendrix was considered a poor soldier since he slept while on duty, and held no regard for the rules and regulations so he was granted an early release for "behavioral problems"

When he came back he and a friend started a band called the "kings kasuals" they played low rate gigs and later Jimi would get his shot at fame when he took his first studio recording however his undiscovered abilities had not been uncovered yet so he was wiped off the soundboard.

After this he regrouped and played on a circuit as the king kasuals for three years until he quit and went to New York.

When he got there he moved into harlem and he got a girlfriend who had connections to all the music scenes in harlem. It would not be long until Hendrix entered and won the amateur competition at the Apollo Theatre. In around 1965 hendrix started touring with other bands and like little richard and Ike and Tina Turner however was fired for having crazy random guitar solos.

Hendrix would later stop playing for other bands and create his own, called "Jimmy James and the Blue Flames" that eventually would never go anywhere and they all departed.

In 1966 Hendrix would meet Linda Keith, who at the time was Keith Richard's girfriend (Kieth Richards is the main guitarists for the Rolling Stones), and she referred him to their manager, however he was not infatuated with his style and declined. Linda would then refer Hendrix to Chas Chandler, the soon to be ex-bassist for "The Animals" because he was looking for talent to manage and produce, Chandler was entranced by the song "Hey Joe" and believed that remaking it into a rock song would make it a hit. After Chandler was impressed he brought Hendrix to London and signed him to the ex-Animals manager Michael Jeffery, and would help Hendrix form a new band "The Jimi Hendrix Experiance" with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell.

After a while in the European scene the words of Jimi Hendrix started spreading through to the london community. World renowned guitarists such as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck were instant fans, as well as members of bands like The Beatles and The Who.

Hendrix's first single was "Hey Joe" and then further success came with "Purple Haze" and "The Wind Cries Mary" after these successes he started creating albums like "Are You Experianced?" and only The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" prevented this album to make the No. 1 spot on the UK charts. Hendrix during this time developed an extreme stage presence, demonsrated by lighting his guitar on fire on stage. Later after a very successful US tour the experiance has to split up after the bassist felt more and more fusterated at the unability to play his natural instrument the guitar, along with other complications.

In August 18 1969, Hendrix was to headline the Woodstock music festival. Although there were other bands such as The Who, Santana, The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane who could have headlined, Hendrix seemed like the obivious choice. Hendrix's new band "Gypsy Sun and Rainbows" made it apparant that they had not practiced enough and therefore made a bad impression on woodstock. However Hendrix's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was one of the most widely acclaimed songs ever played.

Later on Jimi Hendrix was found dead after drinking wine and taking sleeping pills, and most likely asphyxiating himself in his own vomit.
