Leonidas
King Leonidas I led a group of 300 Spartan soldiers to Thermopylae during the Persian war (483-479 BC). He and his men fought to the death to defend all of Greece from the Persian army led by Xerces I. It is recorded by Herodotus that he killed 20,000 Persians during the battle. Although this number is inflated it serves to represent the massive destruction that the Spartans inflicted on the Persians.
An inscription at the battle reads “Go, tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, that here, obedient to their laws, we lie.”
By staying a Thermopylae when everyone else ran away King Leonidas and the Spartans proved that they are Legit. We give him an 9.5 on the legit scale.
