Mother Theresa

Mother Theresa (Agnes Bojaxhiu) was a Roman Catholic nun born on August 26, 1910. She founded the Missionaries of Charity and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She was arguably one of the greatest humanitarians that ever lived, dedicating over forty years of her life to helping the sick, poor, and orphaned. By the 1970’s, her ministry had expanded to numerous countries and Mother Theresa was internationally recognized as an advocate for the helpless and downtrodden. She suffered multiple heart attacks and died on September 5, 1997 in Calcutta, India, at the age of 87.
